Lake Sagar
Lake Sagar Tourist Resort is one of the prestigious resort to stay and enjoy the beauty of beach and lake in paravur which is located at Kappil. It was inaugurated by the former Tourism Minister Mr.E Chandrasekharan Nair and is promoted by the Department of Tourism and managed by the Kollam District Tourism Promotion Council. Lake Sagar has four air conditioned and four non-air conditioned bedrooms, and two roof top restaurants facing the sea and the backwater.

The activities available here are Elephant riding- trekking, Elephant feeding and bathing. Elephant rides are available from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM every day. The whole premise is spanned over 3.5 acres. The tuskers are also send for festivals all over South Kerala. Most of the tourists are coming here for spending a day with an elephant and its mahout. Mr. Shaji ,the entrepreneur of this elephant village is very much dedicated in the care of elephants.
The 7 months old Sivan is the main attraction of tourists. Also South Kerala's tallest elephant Ananthapadmanaphan (10 feet 2 inches), Arjun, Mahadevan etc.. intensify the enthusiasm of tourists. There is also a collection of elephant ornaments like gold plated caparisons, umbrellas, Alavattom, Venchamaram, Necklace etc .Here the relationship between elephants and their trainers and handlers is one based on mutual trust and respect, rather than on dominance and breaking of the animal's spirit. Smt. Jayalalitha (former Chiefminister Tamilnadu) is a greater fan of Shaji and his elephants. All elephants along with their ornaments were carried in lorries to tamilnadu for participating in a victory procession ,according to special request from the chief minister. Also Malayalam actors Jayaram, Ganeshkumar & Babu Namboothiri who are very fond of elephants are some regular visitors.

How to get There:- One can reach here by a 5 kms drive from Parippally and turning right at IOB Junction.If you are coming from Ernakulam or Kollam, you can take a bus from any of the KSRTC bus stands headed towards Thiruvananthapuram and getting down at Parippally and then taking route of Paravur for 5 kms.If by train u can step down at Paravur railway station and take the route to Parippally.
KTDC's 'Vazhiyora Visrama Kendaram' backed by the Tourism Department is about to start here. The aim is to provide wayside amenities to travellers, especially tourists who travel long distances. It would also give them a break from the tiresome journey. It may provide the stay and food and other amenities for tourists.
